The Greeks then invented the water clock ( also known as a clepsydra ) , it measures the flow of water in a cone type of vessel. There are two types of water clocks - inflow & outflow . -

Mechanical clocks were built in Europe made from a mainspring and balance wheel . not that evolved like the clocks we have now, but still mechanical . -

Christiaan Huygens invents the first pendulum clock on earth it is capable of far more than any other time telling objects ( the accuracy ). It doesn't work when you are at sea. -

The telegraph was invented and it has instant transmission of time signals.( in can immediately send time signals ) -

The radio time signal was invented and sent / transported to Washington DC to help ships find longitude . -

The National Bureau of Standards invents the first atomic clock using ammonia . ( a clock based on the study of atoms ) -

A second is now said as ( scientifically ) 9,192,631,770 vibrations of the cesium atom. So it is more advanced and we can see time by seconds too. -

Now that they have made watches we have a more advanced way of reading time and almost half a billion watches are sold every year.
