  • Canada Gains a Fierce Reputation

    During the Battle of Vimy Ridge the Canadians fought the Germans. The Canadians fought hard and gained the ridge. This gave the Canadians a strong reputation. They gained the reputation of being the best shock troops in the Allied Armies. +1
  • Women Can Vote

    To win his election the Prime Minister of Canada enabled the Wartime Elections Act. This allowed women who were relatives of soldiers who were fighting overseas to have a vote.This is the first time women were allowed to vote in Canada. +2
  • Women Fill the Workplace

    Because of the shortage of workers women started to fill the workplace in factories. These jobs gave women some financial independence and some self worth in society. +0
  • The Conscription Crisis

    Prime Minister Borden was pushing for conscription. The majority of French-Canadians were against it while the English-Canadians were going with it. Borden won the election and passed the act of conscription. Conscription further increased and cemented another conflict between the French and English Canadians. -2

    As the war ended so many people lost their jobs, there were also disputes between different groups. The men now forced out the women to make room for the returning soldiers. Many businesses also suffered from the sudden extreme decrease in demand after the war. -1
  • Canada Is More Independent

    During and after the war, Canada becomes more independent. It showed itself during the war, and now wants more independence. Borden insists to the British that Canada should be able to sign treaties. Canada was also able to join the League of Nations as a Nation. +2
  • Lifestyles Are Changed From New Technology

    Technology became more widespread during the 1920's and changed the lifestyle of people all over Canada. Inventions such as more advanced flight, radio, cinema, and the automobile changed transportation and entertainment. +1
  • Foreign Demand Increases

    Canada now has a higher demand for it's resources from foreign countries. The wheat, timber, base metals, pulp and paper markets all raise because of the trade. +2
  • Women are now Recognized as People

    In 1929 an act passed that allowed women to be recognized as people. This means that they can have a greater feeling of self worth in society. +2
