“The Structure of Scientific Revolutions” (1962)
“The Structure of Scientific Revolutions” is Kuhn’s most iconic book and coined the term “paradigm”. Being the most cited academic book of all time Kuhn talks about paradigm shifts which are sets of alternating “normal” and “revolutionary” phases that overlap each other. Kuhn found through careful study of scientific history that science develops in a series of phases and over time unresolved anomalies accumulate and eventually some paradigms fall apart. -

“The Essential Tension” (1977)
The book is a compilation of essays that cover the factors of change in the fields of science and why we should be more interested in and accepting of scientific history. It is recommended to pair this book with his other work The Structure of Scientific Revolutions for a fuller understanding of the topics covered. This work was an important contribution for the history of science because it drew attention to the fact that we don’t pay enough attention to this subject. -
