Stamp Act- Political
The Stamp Act applied to all colonists in America. It required them to pay taxes on every piece of paper they used. -
British Troops come to Boston- Military
The British troops were sent in order to maintain order. In result of the troops arriving the colonists had immediate ressentment. -
Boston Massacre- Social
This was a street fight that led the colonists to rebel against Great Britain. -
Meeting at Faneuil- Social
A meeting for the whole town of Boston took place the day after the Boston Massacre in order to investigate the why the Boston Massacre happened. Sam Adams was the leader of this meeting and demanded for the British troops to be taken out of Boston. -
Boston Tea Party- Social
This event was one of the key event leading up to the revolutionary war. This was when the colonists sank barrels of tea into the harbor in result of the colonists' being forced to pay taxes on British tea. -
First Continantal Congress-Political
This meeting was called in order to decide on how to act against the Intolerable Acts. They chose to boycott British goods in response to the act. -
Second Continental Congress- Political
They called this meeting to come up with a repsonce to Britain for storming into the colonies and wanted to be left alone. Britiain would not stop, the next year the Declaration of Independence was drafted and signed. -
Washington becomes commander-in-Cheif- Military
The continental army was made and a group of men appointed Washington the commander-in-cheif. -
Declaration of Independence- Political
This document was made to show that the thirteen American colonies were no longer apart of British rule and became independent. -
Vermont Abolishes Slavery-Social
Vermont is the first to outlaw slavery in its colony. Although it was only partial, for men over 21 and women older than 18. -
First Constitutional Convention- Political
The meeting was held to make a new constitution and to deside on how the colonies would be governed. -
Three-fifth Compromise- Social
This law enabled every 3 out 5 African Americans to be counted in determining representation in the House of Representatives. -
George Washington Becomes the First President- Political

Jefferson becomes Secretary of State- Political
Appointed by George Washington Jefferson was given the job of secretary of state and Alexander Hamilton became the secretary of treasuary. -
Coinage Act- Econimic
The Coinage Act was passed in order to have everyone across the country using the same currency system, the dollar bill. -
Cotton Gin was Patented- Technological
Eli Wittney inventer the famous cotton gin. Since poeple began to make other models similar to his he needed to patent the invention. Although he applied for the patent in 1794 it did not go thorugh until 1807. -
Jefferson becomes the third President- Political
He ties with his opponent aaron Burr but won when the House of Representatives elected and voted upon the canidates. -
The Louisiana Purchase- Economic
During Jefferson's time as president his main priority, in his first term, was to expand the American territory. He did this by purchasing the Louisiana Territory from France. -
Embargo of 1807-Economic
This specific embargo made illegal exports out of the United States. This caused the United States teconomics to hurt tremendously. -
The War of 1812- Military
the United States attempted to stay out of Europe's Napolenic Wars but failed. Britain was restricting United States trade. This caused the U.S, to decrease economicly. The cuased us to go to war wth Britain. -
Stethescope was invented- Technological
The stethescope was not made on January 1 but was made in 1816, it has only been documented the year. Rene Laenecc invented the stethescope at the Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital in Paris.
