Captain Cook
Captain Cook lands in Botany Bay. He is known to be the first european to land on the east coast of Australia. Botany Bay is close to Sydney. This led to the first colonization of Australia. -
The First Fleet
The ship in the First Fleet arrived in Australia. This carried on till 1850. 806 travelled to Australia in that time period. Most of them were convicts who couldn't be housed in jails in England. These were the first populace of Australia. -
French Revolution
The French Revolution was started. The Revolutionaries wanted to overthrow the royal family of France. Because of this, the Declaration of Rights of Men was created. This Declaration was soon adopted by other nations. -
Melbourne
Melbourne was founded during the reign of King William IV. John Batman, John Fawkner, John Lancey, William Buckley and Charles Grimes all had a part in the founding of Melbourne, but no one person can accept credit for the founding of Melbourne. -
Child Miners
Child Miners were used as hurriers, they transported the coal from the mines to the surface. They would have to carry 500 kg of weight at a time. This started the Unions that are used today to protect the workers. -
Gold Rush
The Australian Gold Rush started when Edward Hammond Hardgraves found a grain of gold in a waterhole near Bathurst.The Gold Rush ended in 1861. This led to a major population boost in Australia because of all the international Gold Miners. -
Aussie Rules Football
The first Australian Rules football game was played. Thomas Wills, Henry Harrison, W.J Hammersley and J.B Thompson created the game together. The modern game A.F.L is supported across all of Australia. -
Stolen Generation
Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders were taken by the goverment to become "pure". This event went on until approx. 100,000 Indigineous Australians were taken from their families. Kevin Rudd apoligized in 2008, believing that nothing we could do can repair what happened, but that we owed the apology. -
Ned Kelly
Ned Kelly, the notorious Bush Ranger, was hanged for his crimes. He was caught at Glenrowan where he had a long gunfight with police and three other Bushrangers were killed. Ned Kelly is one of the most renound Australians in history. -
Olympics
Women were first allowed to go to the Olympics in 1912. These Olympics were held in Stockholm, Fanny Durack and Mina Wylie were the first Australian women to compete. This was a massive step towards equality. -
First World War
The First World War was started. Franz Ferdinand was assassinated and this sparked the First World War, with the Austria-Hungary forces firing upon Serbia. Gavrilo Princip was charged with starting the Great War, one of the largest wars in history, it was the first time that the powerhouses of the world fought each other. -
First World War
The First World War ended in 1918. The Austria-Hungary declared armstice on the 4th of November, 1918, and the German wing of the Central Powers declared armstice on the 11th of November, after successful offensives from the British and French forces.
