    Roosevelt joined Colonel Leonard Wood's first U.S volunteer calvery known as the Rough Riders. After his promotion, Roosevelt took command of the group and led the righ wing on the attack on San Juan Hill which made him the most celebrated participant of the Sanish-American War.
  • McKinley Assassination

    Roosevelt was vice president at the time but quickly became president after McKinley was shot on September 6 but died due to disease on September 14, 1901.

    Theodore Roosevelt sugned The Antiquities Act June 8, 1906. A few months later he excercised the excutive power provided by the law to declare Devils Tower the first National Monument.

    The public expected Roosevelt to run for a third term but he didn't. Instead he chose William Howard Taft to be his successor to please his supporters and to keep a republican in office. After, Roosevelt went to Africa for 11 months and when he came back, June 18, 1910, he was not happy with the things Taft did in office while he was gone.

    Roosevelt's delegates formed the Bull-Moose party and chose Roosevelt as their presidential candiadate. Roosevelt did beat Taft in the 1912 presidental run but he was beat by Woodrow Wilson who won.
