Energy Crisis
A coal strike began in Scranton, Pennsylvania. About 150,000 miners went on strike, and the strike endured for 5 months. During this time, coal was very commonly used for heating homes, so this posed a serious issue. Pelican Island, Florida named first national wildlife refuge
