Indian Independence
The independece of India made two new independent dominions, India and Pakistin. The British no longer ruled the country. Also Mahatma Gandhi helped lead India to its independence. Thousands of there citizens were killed al a result of the Indian Independence. -
Creation of Israel
The creation of Israel was the first Jewish state in 2,000 years this was located in Palestine. The creation of this state caused tons of fighting between Jews and Arabs for the land. In the end the Jews who took up less then half of the population had gained over half of the land! -
Berlin Airlift
Durning the Berlion Airlift the American and British officials flew in supplies for 11 months where a plane would land every 3 minutes. This was all caused because of the Soviet Union who cut off all traffic and water to West Berlin. In the end the Soviets lifted the blocade. -
Arab-Israeli Conflict
Israeli launched a combined air and ground assault into Egypt's peninsula.Egypt was condemned by the nations of the world the cease-fire which was promoted by the United Nations came only after Israel had captured many different land areas. In the end after Israel withdrew from there positions they were cut off from the Indian Ocean. -
The Launch of Sputnik
The soviets were the first to launch an unmanned satellite into space by using an intercontinental ballistic missile. Because of this the U.S. wants to do the same thing because they dont want the Soviets to get ahead in anything. So as a result the U.S. spends tons of money into a science education later they launch a satellite in 1958. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The U.S. flys a spy plane over Cube and is surprised to figure out that the Soviets were secretly building missile sites.The U.S. took this as a threat and wants the Soviets to remove them. The U.S. then blocades Cuba so they cant install more missiles. After the threat of nuclear war the Soviets remove the missiles when the U.S. agrees they wont invade Cuba. -
SALT Talks
Nixon who was the first president to visit Communist China and also visited the Soviet Union. SALT Talks stands for Strategic Defense Limitation Talks which limits the number of missiles a country could have. -
Assassination of Egyptian President Sadat
Sadat the president of Egypt, who had got the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize for entering peace agreements with Israel was assassinated by a Muslim extremists who killed him while he was watching a military parade. -
Tiananmen Square Protests
This was a huge protest where many students held a protest for days. They went with out eating a lot of the time just to show they wouldn't leave. This ending with troops and tanks killing many of the students and also arresting many. -
Fall of The Berlin Wall
This all starts when Hungary allows vacationing East Germans to travel to Austria who then go to West Germany. So East Germany closes its border and because of this protests happen. This results with the new leader of East Germany allowing people to leave, this then causes in the collapse of the Communist Party so which has the result of the fall of the Berlin wall.
