The Wright's Evolution of planes

  • The Wright Brothers Beginning Research

    The Wright Brothers Beginning Research
The Wrights began to study their predecessors, they found little information about anyone or anything about aeronautics before 1800.
  • The Wrights begin to study in aeuonautical structural preperation

The Wrights begin to study in aeuonautical structural preperation
The brothers begin to study and consider precise things such as the gliders wings and body curvature.
  • The Wrights begin to construct their first, biggest glider yet.

The Wrights begin to construct their first, biggest glider yet.
The Wrights had constructed their first official glider in 1901, allthough the gliders performance was poor, it still didn't bring down the Wrights dedication and drive in aeronautical studies.
  • The Wrights improved glider in 1902

The Wrights improved glider in 1902
The Wrights 1902 glider performed dramatically better than its predeccessors.at this point the brothers collected the aeronatical data they needed and kept experimenting.
  • The Wrights First sucessful powered glider

The Wrights First sucessful powered glider
Orville Wright piloted his first official powered airplane in 1903.
It flew 20 feet above a wind swept beach in North Carolina. The flight lasted a total of 12 seconds, and covered 120 feet.
  • The Wrights new flight system

    The Wrights new flight system
The Wrights created a new, more sufficient air plane and invented a new flight system which was a "catapult" to launch the plane into the calm wind. They added extensions to the skids to keep the wings and propellers clear of the ground. The catapult was much more sufficient as it gave extra thrust and within a few seconds it launched. The glider accelerated much quicker than the propellers thrust alone.
  • 1905 Wright Flyer III

    1905 Wright Flyer III
By 1905 the Wright brothers had built their third powered aircraft. Pitching problems had been resolved, which had increased the flyers persistence. The 1905 flyer had a stronger structure and included "bent-end" propellers which increased the control-surface greatly. the Wright Flyer III had improved safety and maneuverability.
  • The Wright company starts a flight school

The Wright company starts a flight school
The Wright company had started their own official flight school at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field in Dayton, Ohio with Orville in charge of instruction.
  • 1908: The airplane going public

In 1908 the Wrights had realized that their invention had been under way for over four years so they realized that it was time to show the world their invention. The Wrights had contracts for the sale of airplanes to a French syndicate and the U.S. finally so they decided to take their airplane public. The brothers had went to Kill Devil Hills with a rebuilt version of their 1905 airplane with improved controls, seats, and they even added a passenger seat. They arrived then showed the public.
