Bohr

The works of Bohr

  • Happy birthday, Niels

Niels Henrik David Bohr was born in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • College graduation

Received a master's degree in physics from Copenhagen University. Bohr's line of work steered towards the theoretical side and began with an experimental investiation of surface tension by means of oscillating fluid jet and would go on to include other subjects such as explaining the properties of metals with the aid of the electron theory, radioactive phenomena, and the structure of atoms.
  • Dr. Bohr

Earned a doctorate in physics from Copenhagen University.
  • Teach me how to theory

Neils Bohr was appointed as the Professor of Theoretical Physics at Copehagen University. For the next several years, his efforts became more focused on the atomic nuclei, transmutations, and disintegrations.
  • Head honcho

Neils later headed the Institure for Theoretical Physics at Copenhagen University.
  • Bohr wins Nobel Prize

Neils Bohr succesfully works out and presents a model of the structure of atoms.
  • The Complimentarity Principle

Borh's presented the concept of complimentarity for the first time at a conference in Cosmo, Italy. The principle claimed that light and electron behavior was sometimes wavelike and sometimes particle-like, but that it was impossible to observe both simultaneously. Physical phenmenon was said to express itself differently depending on the experimental setup used to observe it. Albert Einstein however, never accepted this theory with a now famous response of "God does not play dice."
  • Auf Wiedersehen

For the rest of his life, Bohr attempted to generalize his theory of complientarity to apply to more than just physics.
Niels Bohr dies at the age of 77 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
