When the railroad across the country was built it paved the pathway to moving out west. thousands of people could move out west as it became so easy to move in such a short time. becuase of the railroad population of teh west became more than possible, it became easy. -

homestead act
becuase the thousands of acres out west that are untamed and unpopulated. the government decided to pass the homestead act that gave out almost free land for only 12 dollars. sadly becuase most people coudlnt afford this big componys rushed in and took bought most of the land, selling it for more than the 12 dollars it was origanally there. -
invention of barbed wire
history of barbed wireBarbed wire seemed like a simple invention that marked bountrys but it marked the end of a way of life for cowboys. since the cows couldnt roam it became next to impossible to move the cows up to the cowtowns. and without the cows the cowtowns couldnt make a profit, without a profit they couldnt survive, so the residents of cowtowns began to search for a new way of life. essentially barbed wire ended the way of life for cowbows and the cowtowns taht profited from them. -

exodusters historyAfter the end of reconstruction freedmen lost rights left and right. fearing for their rights as citizens they moved out in masse to to kansas. Thousands of freedmen and women moved out to keep thier rights as citizens. this showed that these people had wills of thier own and refused to be abused by the southerners. -

OAklohoma historythe Oakolohoma land rush of 1889 was a way for the government to populat the land out in the west quickly, but not neccisarily fairly. people would sneak out befor ethe race began and take the best land for themselves. this was a problem becuase hundreds of people were cheated out of land. -

The populist formed to benifit farmers out west. it worked for controlled government prices on railroad shippings and grain prices. it also strived for increased silver production to raise inflation and cuase grain to cost more.
