    On April 17th 1965, between 15,000 and 25,000 people gathered at the capital, A turnout that surprised even the organizers. The Demonstration was primarily made up of students, and were in protest towards the government and their bombing, of North Vietnam. This was the first of many Anti-War movements that will happen in America.

    The My Lai Massacre was the Vietnam War mass killing of between 347 and 504 unarmed citizens in South Vietnam on MArch 16th, 1968. This massacre was committed by U.S. Army soldiers. Victims were men, women, children and infants. This event soon prompted Global Outrage when it became public knowledge.

    Bombing of North Vietnam Halted
    In a televised address to the nation five days before the presidential election, President Lyndon Johnson announces that on the basis of developments in the Paris peace negotiations, he has ordered the complete cessation of “all air, naval, and artillery bombardment of North Vietnam.” Accordingly, effective November 1, the U.S. Air Force called a halt to the air raids on North Vietnam known as Operation Rolling Thunder.
  • Kent State massacre

    Kent State massacre
    The shootings of unarmed college students protesting the Vietnam War at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, by burning the campus ROTC building and throwing rocks at the Guardsmen. Twenty-nine guardsmen fired approximately 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis. Some of the students who were shot had been protesting the Cambodian Campaign.
