March on Washington
It was a massive rally in Washington to emphasize civil rights for African Americans. This was also where MLK gave his iconic "I Have A Dream Speech". The march addressed challenges that African Americans have been facing for centuries and the inequalities they been experiencing. -
The Vietnam War
The war that caused Northern and Southern Vietnam to fight each other since North wanted to convert South into communism. This led to the U.S. more focused on someone else war rather than dealing with the Cold War going on in the U.S. Students and other citizens protested in order to get the U.S. attention. -
The Hippie Movement
They expressed their opposition to the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War and help civil rights take into effect -
President JFK Assassination
President JFK was shot on the neck and head. Hundreds of thousands of people came to pay their respect for President JFK at his funeral. This made the country fear of what they would do next without a leader to lead them and created fear of America's identity. -
The Great Society
The Great Society was LBJ's attempt at reforming society for the benefit of the common man. Congress passed many Great Society measures, including Medicare, civil rights legislation, and federal aid to education. -
The Black Panther Party
A political organization that challenged the police force against the African American community. They had goals of establishing political and economic equality for all blacks. -
The Watergate Scandal
The investigation of President Nixon that was suspected of his reelection campaign. Evidence was found of his reelection and Nixon tried to cover up. This lead to the people's suspicions of President Nixon leadership and to think more critically about the presidency. Nixon broke into Democratic National Committee offices and placed tapes that would record the conversation on the next election. He was exposed and wouldn't give up the recordings which caused him to resign. -
Apple Inc
Apple Inc. was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. This was a huge innovation and was a major step in America's technological advancements. -
HIV
The virus appeared in America in the early 1980s. The Reagan administration was slow to respond to the "AIDS Epidemic".
