Battle of Dien Bien Phu Begins
The war begins between the French and the Vietminh. The Vietminh shoot down all incoming supplies from the french making it impossible for them to get any artillery. At this point the French have met their match. Later on that year on May 7th, the French are defeated by the Vietminh, leaving 3,000 french men killed and 8,000 wounded. -
