Vietnam gets split into north and south
The Geneva accords split Vietnam into a north and south using the 17th parallel as their dividing line, but they still wanted to unify Vietnam under a single democratic government (the elections to make this happen never took place) -
The begining of the war
A covert mission conducted in south Vietnam is launched under command of U.S air force Col Edward Lansdale and thus the war begins. -
President John F Kennedy authorizes secret mission
President John F Kennedy sent over helicopters and over 400 green berets to south Vietnam and even authorizes secret operations held against the Viet Cong. -
Protests against the war
Americans begin taking to the streets in protest of the war, this was one of the largest public protests to date. -
The end of the war
NVA tanks rolled through the gates of the presidential palace officially ending the war after two years prior the countries involved had all signed a peace treaty which figuratively ended the war.
