After Japan admits defeat Ho Chi Minh, founder of the Vietnamese League for Independence, claimed independence for Vietnam. France had colonial power over Indo-China. With the previous war, the country was seperated between north and south. Ho Chi Minh was hoping that the US would be on their side, which was considered North Vietnam now, but the US chose to Stick with France and aid the South. My Lai
3,500 U.S. troops arrived in Da Nang, Vietnam. General Westmoreland had hoped that their arrival wouldn't be a big commotion. There was a larger group of people awaiting their arrival with signs and lei's. Soon after their arrival, the My Lai massacre happens. Soldiers looking for a North Vietnam group became angry and upset when they had no luck and attacked villagers as a result.

Easter Offensive
The first attack was on March 30th, 1973 when PVAN troops when across the border with 200 tanks attacking Southern Vietnam and American troops. with air attacks, PVAN lost a great number of troops.
