The use of televisions was introduced into the classroom to show current events and the morning announcements. It was even used to show DVDs on the topics we were learning -
Library Computer
Computers were added to the library to search the book catalog or to do research for a school project. -
Computer Labs
Schools began to offer computer labs in each "pod" of the school, as well as investing in a technology card filled with laptops and tablets. -
Graphing Calculators
Students were asked to purchase or rent advanced calculators to aid in instruction for their math courses -
Integration of Google Drive
Google Drive and other Google platforms (Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.) were introduced into my classroom. This allowed us to seamlessly work on school-work while at home. -
Laptops for Checkout
Students were able to check out laptops from school for educational use on campus or at home with the permission of a parent/guardian -
The use of SMART Boards
This is the year I attended a new school. This new school was fully loaded with technology, namely SMART Boards, an alternative to whiteboards that wirelessly connect to show computer screens. -
Integration of Applications
Teachers started to integrate applications such as Edmodo, GroupMe, Survey Monkey, and Top Hat for interactive learning and communication with students/parents. -
Computers or Tablets Required for College Courses
Many components of college courses involved the use of WebCampus while projects required internet research and a typed final product. -
E-Books for Textbooks
This was the first time I relied on an e-text for educational purposes instead of being provided a textbook by my school or teacher. -
Required Remote Learning
With the events of a global pandemic, schools have chosen to close down and require their students to have access to technology and the internet in order to complete their education.
