  • Napoleolic war ended the Holy Roman Empire

    The Holy Roman Empire was many small kingdoms and city-states whose main judicial body consisted of prince-electors who fought quarreled amongst themselves soften. The War was led by Napoleon I. The war led resulted in a French Revolution and Revolutionary Wars that caused the fall of the Holy Roman Empire.
  • The Carlsbad Decrees

    They were a set of reactionary restrictions that introduced German states to the Ignore. It removed the removed liberal university professors and expanded the censorship of the press.
  • Revolts across the German Confederation

    Revolts in Berlin, Dresden and Frankfurt resulted in King Frederick William to grant a constitution to the Confederation. King Frederick tried to unite Germany but was refused by William IV. This caused the questioning of whether to include Austria or not in the unification of Germany.
  • The Crimean War

    (1853-1856). Russia vs. France, England, and the Ottoman Empire. Russia loses and is humiliated. Britain ends the sales of commissions to the army. The Russian Empire lost. This caused a decline in the Ottoman Empire and forced Britain and France to not allow Russia to gain and protect new territory.
  • Rise of Prussia and Otto von Bismarck Empire

    Otto von Bismarck becomes prime minister of Prussia. He balanced the power of diplomacy to maintain Germany's position in Europe. He unified German states and excluded Austria on purpose.
  • Danish-Prussian War

    Denmark fought Prussia and Austria. Due to the Danish king dying without an heir acceptable to the German Confederation war was necessary for the control over the duchies of Holstein and Lauenburg.
  • Austro-Prussian War

    The war was between the German Confederation under the leadership of the Austrian Empire and its German allies versus the Kingdom of Prussia. This resulted in the win of Prussia that led to third independence war of Italian unification.
  • Franco-Prussian War

    The war was between the French Empire and the German states. This was caused by the Prussians wanting to extend German unification and shift the balance of power in Europe.
  • Proclamation of the German Empire at Verailles

    After finally having everything in line for the unification of Germany, Ottoman Von bismarck went to Versailles and proclaimed the unification of Germany.
