    Virginia slave who tried to sue for his freedom in court. But once it got to the supreme court, they declared that he was property and he had no legal rights.
  • Harpers Ferry Raid

    John Brown lead a failed raid with his sons. He tries to initiate an armed slave revolt to take over the U.S. arsenal. Brown's company of 22 is defeated by the U.S. Marines.
  • Lincoln is Nominated as President

    Lincoln is Nominated as President
    He is the 16th president. Abraham Lincoln is elected even with his name not on any Southern ballot. The democratic party splits over the issue of slavery, allowing Lincoln to get an advantage and win as a Republican President.
  • The South Leaves the Union

    The South Leaves the Union
    South Carolina leaves the Union first. Six other states leave, forming the CSA in Feb. 1861. Jefferson Davis becomes their president.
  • Fort Sumter is Attacked

    The confederates fire 50 cannons in South Carolina at this Base. Lincoln sends in proclamation, food, and aids.

    The confederates start out losing, until Stonewall Jackson stays stationary and with his faith they win the war. The union gives him the name Stonewall Jackson, because him and his army stand like a stonewall and keep pushing forward.
  • Battle at Antietam

    The bloodiest day in US history. Lee and McClellan stop in Maryland, where 26,000 soldiers will be dead, injured, or missing by nigh time.
  • Chancellorsville

    Lee's smaller army does the never before and splits there army up to do a sneak attack from the side. This is Lee's greatest victory. Unfortunately, Stonewall Jacks gets shot and killed during battle.
  • Gettysburg

    Lee's army is looking for supplies. In three days nearly 50,000 soldiers are killed, for a Union Victory. This is considered the turning point for the war.
  • Gettysburg Address

    Before that he met with Frederick Douglas about equal rights. He doesn't blame anyone for the war, but emphasizes the human equality. The speech was a little over 2 minutes.
  • Atlanta

    After Sherman destroys the warehouses and railroads, he begins his march to the sea, with his 62,000 men. He burns everything in his path.
  • Richmond/Appomattox Court House

    The Confederate Capital was captured. Lee surrenders to Grant.Grant allows Rebel officers to keep their sidearms and permits soldiers to keep horses and mules.

    Lincoln and his wife Mary go to see a play. During the 3rd act, John Wilkes Booth shoots the president. He becomes the 1st president ever assassinated
