Uniquely, the Chickasaw exchanged there native land for financially compensation from the US government. They were paid the equivalent of $11,382,152 in modern currency. -
Forcible Removal of Cherokee from Land
Cherokee Petition of Protest Of the approximately 16,000 Cherokee who began the Westward migration, between 2,000-6,000 perished before reaching their destination.
