The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen
On August 26, 1789 the National Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen. This declaration was inspired by the American Delcaration of Indepedence and Consitution. All men were subject to one law, paying all taxes, and eligible to hold all offices. This also ended all tax exemptions. -

On September 21, 1792 the National Convention made their first major move in the revolution. They abolished the Frnech monarchy and created the new French Republic. -
