It did end up getting passed and it was a band-aid mainly because even more tension was building between the states

    David Wilmot Introduced by Democratic Representative David Wilmot of Pennsylvania on August 8, 1846 (just two months after the outbreak of war with Mexico), banned slavery anywhere in any territory that might be acquired from Mexico. It was a hotly debated political issue.David sought to prohibit slavery from any territory acquired as part of the settlement of the Mexican-American War.

    The Fugitive Slave Act was amended alongside slave trade in Washington D.C. Henry Clay proposed an idea to abolish slavery, and resolute conflict between the Confederation, and the Union. The five laws proposed by Henry Clay were, California to be a free state, the Fugitive Slave Act to be bettered, no more slavery in in Washington D.C, Federal assumptions of Texas's debt, Popular sovereignty in Utah and new Mexico.

    Runaway slaves and Henry Clay were the people that participated on the creation of the fugitive slave act.It was passed as a law for the compromise of 1850 in house of representatives.It was created to make runaway slaves be able to stay free after they escaped from the owners.It made the slaves be free after they escaped from their owners which would be a waste of money for the owners
    It made the slaves basically free because if they ran away from their farms they would be free.

    The secret actions of slave owners to their slaves that people did not know about, Harriet Beecher Stowe wanted the people to know what actually happened to the slaves and what their owners did to them.it made people know what happened and made them be con slavery but other people were pro slavery and they fought for what was going to happen to the slaves

    It allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders.
    The Act served to repeal the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which prohibited slavery north
    This act made people vote for being pro or con slavery and made people from Kansas and Nebraska be free to choose from pro or con slavery.

    Dred Scott was the main person on this event that happened in Missouri. This event was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court held that the U.S. Constitution was not meant to include American citizenship for black people. Dred Scott wanted freedom to be a citizen. It impact the history because it made people want the African Americans freedom to be a citizen.

John Brown formed a small group of people that were against slavery, and they went in a killing spree, killing tons of slave owners. This made John Brown seen differently in the North and South. The North saw him as a heroic abolitionist, and the South saw him as a psychopath killing innocent people.
