MP John Stuart Mill
After MP John Stuart Mill suggested giving votes to women in 1867, 73 MPs supported the motion. Later, aftr so amny MPs voted in favour of women's suffrage in 1867, large quantaties of suffrage societies began to be formed. -
Married women were finally recognised as individuals by the law.
Women were no longer seen as a possession to their husbands. -
Women's Franchise League
The Woman's fanchise League takes up the rights of married women and campaigns for equality for women in divorce, inheritance and custody of children. -
Free education
Free and cumpulsory education intorduced for all the working-class children up to the age of twelve. -
Parish Councils Act
Parish Councils Act permits women who own properties and taxpayers to serve on urban and parish district councils . -
Factory Act
The Factory Act bans employment of children under the age of 11 in factories. Also, women are not to be employed for 4 weeks after having a child. -
NUWSS is formed
NUWSS (Non-millitant national Union of Women's Suffrage Societies) is formed by well-educated middle-class women unsatisfied with their lives. -
Women could vote in local elections and could become local government coucillors.

Factory Act reduces the number of hours women work by one hour.

WSPU
Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst founded another campaign named the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU). -
Emily Davidson
Emily davidson was an experience campaigner. That day was the day of the world-famous horse race - the Derby, at Epsom race course.She rushed out and tried to grab one of the horses during the race howver it caused fatal injuries. She died four days later. it became the most publicised protest of all. -
Suffragette magazine 'Votes For Women' had a circulation of 40,000
