How it's made
It's made just from a bean called the vanilla orchid that looks kinda like a green bean. -
Why it cost a lot
Vanilla was expensive because there was not much of it. The beans could be grown in only one place which is Mexico. -
Everyone loved vanilla and still does
Thanks to Edmond albinism vanilla beans could be grown places outside of Mexico. People began growing vanilla plants wherever the weather was warm enough and soil was right. -
Beyond ice cream
Over the years people started using vanilla for more than just ice cream. Bakers added vanilla to cookies. Soda companies added vanilla to cola they discovered it helped upset stomachs. -
