The Story Carrington Farms

  • Where It All Began...

    Where It All Began...
David Eben and Brad Miller worked together, one as a distributor and one as a food buyer. Pretty boring...the opportunity for them to sell "Barrington" tea came up. They jumped on the chance to use their entrepreneurial spirits. David is a huge tea drinker (in fact, he never had a cup of coffee in his life!). They both saw the opportunity in the expensive tea market and thought, tea isn’t that expensive, why should it retail so high?

Turns out the name Barrington was already taken so they simply changed the "B" to an"C" and trademarked their company Carrington Tea.

    Thanks Joan Collins!
Much to their surprise and happiness, the name Carrington was still recognizable due to the fame of the show Dynasty, even 10 years after the show went off he air! They got their first success at Shop Rite, where the buyer liked their $.99 retail price and was sure he new Carrington Tea even though they were a brand new company. Thank you to Joan Collins, Linda Evans, the Carringtons and the Colby's for helping Carrington Tea get off the ground!
  • We Should Sell This Too!

    We Should Sell This Too!
A few years into the tea business and David was training for his first Triathlon when he realized he needed to eat better to feel better. One of his customers suggested flax seeds which he and Brad liked so much, they decided "Why not, we should sell this!" That was the birth of Flax Paks. They could not use the Carrington Tea name to sell flax, so they called it “Carrington Farms” and their new business was formed.
  • Family Matters

    Family Matters
They say partnering with a sibling can cause family fights but Carrington Farms was growing and they needed the expertise of Debbie Eben Shandel, David's sister, so they brought her in as a partner and it’s been a family affair ever since! They hired a few employees and ran the business out of their parent's basement.
  • Words to Live By
