French and Indian War
This war was between Britain and France. France’s expansion into the Ohio River Valley brought Conflict with the claims of the British colonies. The war lasted from 1756 to 1763. British recieved territories of Canada from France and Florida from Spain opening the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passsed by British Parliament. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists. The law required them to pay tax on every piece of paper they used. This included playing cards, newspapers, and legal documents. -
The Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act was a British law passed by Parliament at the same time the Stamp Act was repealed. -
The Townshend Act
The Townshend Act taxed glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea imported into the colonies. -
The Boston Massacre
A street fight between patirots and British troops. Some colonists were killed. 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. -
The Boston Tea Party

These laws were also known as the Coercive acts. The series of acts were passed in the reaction to the Boston Tea party. -
