French and Indian War
French and Indian war was a nine year war against the French and their Native American allies. This war began in 1754. French won major victory over British troops in Ohio country. British had capture Fort Louisbourg in Canada and they also captured Montreal and the fighting ended. British had conquer Quebec, ensuring that they would win the war. The Treaty of Paris had ended the war in 1763 and France had lost most of its North American territory. -

Colonist could not move west of the Appalachian Mountains but yet many colonist ignored the law and still moved. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was an incident which British army soldiers had shot and killed five people. Many of the citizens felt that they had to pay unjust taxes and that upset them. This caused soldiers and colonist to The Boston Massacre. -
The Boston Tea Party
On the night of December 16, 1773 a group of colonists boarded British ships in Boston harbor. Working quickly, they dumped valuable tea into the bay. -
Tea Act
The British passed The Tea Act Law which taxed tea shipped to the American colonies. Many of the colonists thought that even with this new law that made it less expensive it was all just to make them accept taxes passed by the British government. This law was being protested by the colonists with a boycott of the tea and many other actions also. -
Intolerable Acts
British Parliament also handed down a set of extremely harsh laws meant to punish the colonists for their protests. Colonists called these Intolerable Acts. -
First and second continental congress
After Intolerable Acts had happened the colonial leaders formed The First Continental Congress. Colonies gathered together and organized militias. This took place in early 1775. Olive Branch Petition
This was a final attempt by the colonists to avoid going to war with Britain during the American Revolution. In this document they pledged their loyalty and asserted their rights as British citizens. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration has three parts. The first part states the idea that people are born with natural rights, which include life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. If the government fails to respect the people's rights then they have every right to then rebel against it. This document includes that the United States had become an independent country. -

The treaty of Paris was a document that ended the American Revolutionary War.
