Super Bowl
Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. The American Football League (AFL) champion Kansas City Chiefs defeated the National Football League (NFL) champion Minnesota Vikings by the score of 23-7. This victory by the AFL squared the Super Bowl series with the NFL at two games apiece. This was also the final AFL-NFL World Championship Game before the two leagues merged into one after the season. -
First Earth Day
The First Earthday was on the First day of Spring in March of 1970. It is now celabrated on April 22 every year. -
18 Year Olds Given Right to Vote
President Richard Nixon signed a law (not a constitutional amendment) which required the voting age to be 18 in all federal, state and local elections. In his statement on signing;
“Despite my misgivings about the constitutionality of this one provision, I have signed the bill. I have directed the Attorney General to cooperate fully in expediting a swift court test of the constitutionality of the 18-year-old provision.” -

Cigarette ads are banned on TV
The ban took effect on January 2, 1971, in order to give the cigarette companies one final chance to advertise during the New Year's Day bowl games on TV.Ironically, cigarette sales increased dramatically in 1971, the first year of the cigarette-ad ban. -

M*A*S*H T.VV Show Premiers
M*A*S*H T.V. is a television series. It’s based on 1968 novel about their army doctors. It’s a series about medical drama and black comedy. M*A*S*H suffered with the first season of being a risk of being it canceled. On September 17, 1972 and ended on February 28, 1983 the most watched television episode in the U.S. breaking over 125 million viewers. Many of the stories in the early season were based on real-life told by MASH surgeons. -
Supreme Court rules against Death Penalty
The Supreme Court put an end to the death penalty for killers who committed their crimes before they were 18. Those that were being put to death making 16 and 17 years old were qualified for the execution. The Eight Amendment ban on cruel and unusual punishment. They drew the line at age 18 for many purposes between childhood and adulthood. The court said the punishment was unfair because the blacks were more likely to be executed more than whites. -
Last Man on the Moon
Apollo 17 was the eleventh and final manned mission. It launched at 12:33am on December 7, 1972. It returned to earth on Decmeber 19 after 12-day mission. -
The Wars Act Passed
The War Act passed in 1973 it is a Federal law intended to check the power of the President without the approval by Congress. This proves the President can send the U.S Armed Forces into action but congress has to also approve it. The President can notify Congress within 48 hours with the issues, but the President can send the U.S. armed forces, but they can only stay there for 60 days. Then the U.S. armed forces would have to come back unless congress tells them differently. -

Abortion Legalized in United States
Abortions in the United States have been legal in every state since 1973. The Supreme Court had a case Roe vs. Wade. Roe, the legality of abortion was decided by the states. It was illegal in 30 states and under certain cases in 20 states. Roe established “the right of personal privacy.” They created a new standard specifically to balance the state’s and the woman’s interests in the case of abortion. -
Endangerd Species Act
The Endangered Species Act happened on December 28, 1973. It expressed a concern that many of our nation’s native plants and animals were in danger of becoming extinct. The purpose of the ESA is to protect species that are endangered. -
Patty Hearst Kiddnapped PART 1
Patricia Carempbell Hearst was known as a American newspaper, actress, kidnap victim, and convicted bank robber. Her kidnapping case is considered an example of Stockholm syndrome. It means that she was kidnapped then she started liking the guy that she was kidnapped by. In the by kidnapping the Symbioses Liberation Army, she joined her captors in furthering their cause. After the bank robbery with the SLA members, she was imprisoned for almost two years before her sentence. -

Bill Gates and Paul Allen seized the opportunity to transform this early PC into a breakthrough -- the Altair needed software, a programming language that could make it perform useful computing tasks. And that was a task that was completed. -
Jimmy Hoffa Disapears
Jimmy Hoffa was a Union Leader typ of person. He went missing the day he was supossed to talk to 2 Maffia Leaders.
When Hoffa did not return home that evening, his wife reported him missing. Police found Hoffa's car at the restaurant but no sign of Hoffa himself or any indication of what happened to him. Extensive investigations into the disappearance began immediately, and continued over the next several years by several law enforcement groups, including the FBI. -
