Sioux clash with settlers in the Oregon Trail
As settlers started moving westward, they started to claim land that belonged to the Sioux. The indians considered them trespassers so they mounted on horses and started to make lighting fast raids against settlers. -
The Second Seminole War
This war was the longest and most expensive war between Native Americans and American Settlers. The war lasted from 1835-1842. -
Sioux become Landless
United States bought all of the Sioux's land east of the Mississippi River. -
1842 marks the end of the second Seminole War
Seven years of war and bloodshed between the Native Americans and American colonizers. While the native did not have guns, they used arrows and spears to defend themselves. -
The Sioux Wars begins with Settlers
The Sioux Wars take place from 1854-1862. This includes a series of wars where a lot of bloodshed and violence was seen between groups. -
The start of the Third Seminole War
This was the last war between the Natives and the settlers. However, this war displaced thousands and forced the relocation of most of the Seminole Tribe. -

The end of the third seminole war marked the forced relocation to the midwest where the Seminoles had to endure a long and deadly journey. The environment was cold and difficult for the Seminole to adjust to. -
Chief Little Crow plans an attack on settlers
Natives killed thousands of settlers in the New Ulm area of Minnesota. -
Red Cloud's War
Red Cloud was a well-known Sioux Chief that led the rise in a one year conflict due to clashes between the settlers. The lack of trust between both groups led to a one year fight. -
The Sioux were defeated
American Settlers offered the Black Hills treaty where Sioux gave control over all of their land. American Settlers used this land to mine and make a profit.
