    The German forces tried out the blitzkrieg in Poland before successfully using it with invasions of Belgium and France in 1940.They used armored columns that were known as panzer divisions. It was also used by German commander Erwin Rommel during the North African campain. It was really just a military tatic made to create disorganization through enenmy forces using concentrated firepower.     Hitler had three German army groups strike Russia by surprise. Even though Russia was bigger, they were eventually defeated by the Germans who destroyed 1,000 soviet aircrafts. This let the Germans penetrate up to 300 miles into the Russina territory which only took a couple days. It happened because Hitler was convienced that England was holding out against German assults and feared he would be crushed by the East and the West."History.com"

    This was an American invasion that was caused because Japan wanted a place where B-29 bombers could land without having to return to the Marianas. It was defended by at least 20,000 people from the army and navy. Many of the Japanesse fought from different caves and tunnels that were very hard to find and destroy. Only about 1,000 prisoners survived this battle. By capturing Iwo Jima, the allied forces could conduct more air attacks which would help them win World War 2."History.com"

    This battle was fought on the Ryukyu islands of Okinawa and was the largest assult in the Pacific war. This was a very fierce battle between the U.S and Japan. The Allied forces wanted to capture an island near Japan so it could serve as a base for air operations in support of the invasion of the Home islands.
