Czar Nicholas the II takes control of the army
In 1915 Czar Nicholas takes full control of the Russian Army. A decision that will play a major role in the revolution. Because he assumes all responsibility for the actions of the army, people begin to blame him for all the losses Russia incurs throughout the war. -
February Revolution begins
In Petrograd, citizens fed up with the Czars rule protest. Out of the Chaos came a provisional government. -
Czar Nicholas Abdicates
Czar Nicholas abdicates his throne, he and his family are placed under house arrest. Russia government switches to a provisional government. -
October Revolution
Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks lead a second revolution that overthrows the provisional government and installs Lenin as the new ruler of Russia. -
Russia withdraws from WWI
The new Russian government signs the treaty of Brest-Litovsk ending their involvement in WWI -
Czar Nicholas is excuted
Czar Nicholas and his family are executed to end any claim to the throne they may have in the future, further cementing the new government.
