Around 200,00 workers and their families approached the Czar's winter palace in St. Petersburg demanding better working conditions. Over 1,000 people were wounded and several 100 were killed. This provoked future strikes and violence. -
The First Duma Meeting
The first Duma (Russia's first parliment) met. The leadaers of the duma wanted Russia to become a constitutional monarchy like Britain but the Czar did not want to share his power. The Czar dissolved the Duma 10 weeks later. -
Russia Enters WWI
Nicholas II leads Russia into World War I. Russia was not prepared to handle the military and economic costs and are defeated repeatidily by the Germans. After a year of being involved in war, more than 4 million Russian soldiers had been killed, wounded, or taken prisoner. -
The March Revolution
Women textile workers in Petrograd lead citywide strikes. In the next 5 days, riots flare up over shortages of bread and fuel. Soldiers are ordered to shoot the rioters but instead side with them. -
The Bolshevik Revolution
Armed factory workers who called themselves "Red Gaurds" storm the Winter Palace in Petrograd. They take over government offices and arrest leaders of the provisional government. Kerensky and his colleages disappeared. -

Ending of the Civil War
Civil war ends. Several western nations and the US sends military aid and forced to Russia to help the White Army. However they did not help. -
Lenin Restores Order
Lenin resorts to new economic policy (NEP) in which the government is in control of major industries, banks and means of communication Lenin does his best to restore order throughout Russia. Country slowy recovers. -
Lenin's Fall
Vladmir Lenin suffers from a stroke and is unable to stay in office. Joeseph Stalin takes over and begins his climb for power.
