    • When it happened?
    After Alexander II was dethroned, and Nicholas II was the new Tsar.
    • Where it happened?
    In Russia, and political prisoners were sent to Siberia
    • What happened?
    The absolute authority of the Tsar, only the Russian Orthodox church was allowed to practice religion, you were only allowed to speak the Russian Language, censorship of Universities and newspapers, a formation of the secret police, political prisoners as mentioned were sent to Siberia and Organized Violence

    • What happened?
    The number of factories doubled, the largest industry was steel, and by 1900, Russia was the fourth largest steel producer. They also made the trans Siberia railroad. Why it happened? For Russia to grow as a country, and to catch up to all of the other superpowers of the world. Who made it happen? and to who did it happen to? Nicholas II again, and the working class citizens.

    With all these factories opening, the working conditions became poor, and the workers in these factories were upset. The wage was super low, there were children working in these factories, and trade unions were illegal. Because of this, strikes became more and more common among the workers.

    -When it happened? January 22nd,1905 -Where it happened? Tsar's Winter Palace in St. Petersburg -What happened? 200k striking workers marched on the Tsar winter palace in St. Petersburg and sign a petition and ask the Tsar for help. The generals order troops to fire on the crowd -Why it happened? Workers were fed up with the poor working conditions and wanted a change in the workplace -Who made it happen,Who did it happen to? The workers planned it and the workers and army were involved

    Russia goes to war
    Even though joining the war was a very unpopular thing in Russia at the time, Russia still decided to join. This is a very questionable choice. The Russian army was very weak and inexperienced, littered with generals with little to no experience. Most of the troops are untrained, and are given no guns or ammunition, told to get a gun from a dead soldier. 4 million Russian soldiers died, wounded, or were taken prisoner in the first year. They also had poor roads and a unreliable rail line.

    Grigory Rasputin
    Rasputin was a very odd person, a peasant slowly gaining access into the royal family and becoming their closest adviser, even leading them to believe he had magical healing powers. Much of his story has been corrupted due to propaganda that historians don't know all the truths to him, and if he really did have magical healing powers or if he did have sexual relationships with the women in the royal family. He was hated by the Russian people who resented his influence on the tsar.

    -When it happened? March 8, 1917 -Where it happened? Streets of Petrograd -What happened? 10k working women marched in the streets and protested bread lines, joined by male workers calling for general strike. Tsar orders army to fire on crowd, most soldiers refuse and join protest. March 15th Nicholas abdicates. -Why it happened? People were upset with the Tsar and wanted change.

    -When it happened In November of 1917 -Where it happened Winter palace in Petrograd -What happened? A coup, factory workers storm Winter palace in Petrograd and the "Reds" take control of the palace and arrest the government leaders. After taking control, Lenin redistributes farm land to the peasants and the factories go back to the workers. The Royal family is imprisoned and sent to be Executed. -Why it happened The "Reds", the Bolsheviks working class were tired of how they were treated

    Was a Civil war fought between two different groups The Reds: Led by Leon Trotsky, a military genius, believed in conscription, and believed in war communism. They were Bolsheviks, working class people The Whites: Anti-Bolsheviks, middle class aristocrats The Reds came out on top, with over 14 million Russian men dying. Lots died to due to the Spanish flue and famine. There were also more Reds then Whites.

    2. The workers emigrated, and the state had all control of the money
    3. Lenin restores order and puts everything back in place.
    4. Compromises political views to do it.

    Becomes leader of the Communist party, more likable then Leon Trotsky, Stalin relates more to the people, wins their vote. Stalin has plans for a new Russia, he plans to modernize Russia through a series of a 5 year plan. He moves agriculture in correlates, they are ran by the state. 5 Million die of starvation due to lack of food. He transforms Russia into a dictatorship. 750,000 are killed, political murders, 3 million people are sent to Gulags.
