The Decembrist Revolt
This was an uprising organizec by the Northern Society. Their goal was to convince the troops in St. Petersburg to not take the loyalty oath, but to kill Nicholas I's brother Constintine. However, this uprising was shut down almost immediately, because it was badly organized, so most of the participants fled. -
Nicholas II Crowned Tsar of Russia
Crowned in Mosscow, suceeding his father. His upbringing couldn't prepare him for the challenges that would face him as czar of Russia. He lacked the strength in character, but his wife Alexandra made up for it. -
The Russo-Japanese War
This war developed out of the rivalary between Russia and Japan over Korea and Manchuria. The war began when Japan suprise attacked Russia and put them under siege. -
Bloody Sunday
A massacre in St. Petersburg, Russia. A wave of strikes planned by the Assemblly of Russian Workingmen ( a leagal organization of workers) The point was to present the workers requests directly to the Czar Nicholas II. However the Czar was not in the city, so his uncle, the chief of security police, tried to stop the march. Over 100 marchers were killed and several hundred were wounded. -
Russian Involvement in WWI
Austria-Hungary first declared war on Russia when Nicholas II escalated the Balkan conflict to the point where Germany would come in behind Austria-Hungary. His original plan was that he could avoid escalation of the war. Unofficial war comittees were established in major cities to help support the war effort. -
The March Revolution
The first stage of the Russian Revolution, the monarchy was overthrown and replaced by the Provisional Government. Eventually overthrown by the Bolsheviks. -
Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
When riots broke out in St. Petersburg, Nicholas II wanted to send troops to restore order. However, it was too late. The government resigned, the Duma, supported by the army called upon Nicholas II to abicate. In Pksov, with a fatilistic compoorsure, Nicholas II renounced the throne. -

A treaty where Russia let Germany borrow large portions of their territories caused problems between the Communists and the Socialists.Trotsky ordered Bolsheviks, after uprising, to surrender their arms, but they refused and took control of the Trans-Siberian Railroad. The Red army recovered most of eastern European Russia. -
The creation of the U.S.S.R.
Consisted of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Transcaucasion Federation. The U.S.S.R. was being dominated by the Russians. The federated state structure was used to conceal the dictatorship of the Russsian Communist Party. -
Vladimir Lenin’s Death
Lenin fell very ill, IN april his surgeons had extracted th ebullet fromthe assians gun out of his neck. He recovered, but after the operation he had a stroke and he was partially paralyzed and unable to speak. Later on he had another stroke and couldnt' speak anymore. The next stroke was his last, because he died from it.
