The Decembrist Reolt
The Decembrist Revolt took place in Imperial Russia on December 26, 1825. Russian army officers led 3,000 soldiers in protest against Nicholas I’s assumption of the throne after his older brother removed himself from the line of success. This event took place in Senate Square in Saint Petersburg. -
Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
Slavery was declared unlawful. Alexander II and his father, Nicholas I both thought slavery was inhumane. -
Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia
On November 1, 1894 Nicholas II became czar of Russia. He was known as Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias. On March 15, 1917 he was forced to abdicate from ruling. -
The Russo-Japanese War
The Russo-Japanese War was between the Russian Empire and the Japanese Empire. Russia had a small amount of weapons and very little transpertaion. On September 5, 1905 it ended with the Japanese winning. -
Bloody Sunday
Unarmed workers were shot by the soldiers of the Imperial Guard when they marched to the Winter Palace. -
The Revolution of 1905
It was a mass of political and socialunrest that spread through the Russian Empire. It included worker strikes, peasent unrest, and military mutinies. -
The Social-Democratic Labor Party splits into two groups, Mensheviks and Bolsheviks
In 1912, the Social-Democratic Labor Party split into two, the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. -
World War I (Russian Involvement)
On August 1914, World War I started. Germany declared war on Russia te protect Austia and this made France declare war on Germany to protect Russia. It ended on Nobember 11, 1918. -
The March Revolution
The first World War costed millions of lives. Poeple whoi weren't fighting has food shortages. It was super cold and fuel was hard to get. -
Czar Nicholas II abdicated the Russian throne
Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate his throne after strikes and general revolts broke out in Petrograd which is now St. Petersburg. -
Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks capture the Winter Palace
On April 3rd, 1917 Lenin and the Bolsheviks went to war against the White's. It was a brutal fight but bloodless. It ended with the Bolsheviks winning in 1921. -
The Russian Civil War begins
It was a mulit-party war fought between the Red Army and the White Army. -
Nicholas II and his family are executed
Nicholas' family was shot in Yekaterinburg. The execution was led by Yakov Yurovsky. -
Vladimir Lenin dies and Josef Stalin becomes leader of the Soviet Union
Lenin died on January 21, 1924. Once he died, Josef Stalin became leader on April 3, 1922. -
Alexander Kerensky becomes the leader of the provisional government
After the February Revolution Alexander Kerensky became minister of justice. In May he became minister of war. In Jusy e became second Prime Minister, but was overthrown by the Bolsheviks.
