Russian army officers led about 3,000 soldiers in a protest againt czar Nicholas l's assumption of the throne after his brother Constantine fmoved himself from the line of succession. -
Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia
Nicholas ll inherited the throne when his father, Alexander lll, died in 1894. He was the last czar of Russia. Although he believed in autocracy, he was eventually forced to create an elected legislature. His handling of Bloody Sunday and World War l enraged his subjects which led to his abdication or retirement. -

Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
During the February Revolution, Czar Nicholas ll, ruler of Russia since 1984, is forced to abdicate the throne. After, strickes and general revolts break out in St. Petersburg. -
The March Revolution
Workers demanded a 50% wage increase so they could buy food. The management refused so the workers went on strike. 30,000 workers were locked out of work and they were not paid and could not afford any food now. The riots just got worse and were getting way out of hand. -
The Russian Civil War begins
The Russian Civil War was a multi-party war in the former Russian Empire immediately after the Russian Revolutions of 1917. The two largest groups were the Red Army fighting for the Bolshevik form of socialism, and the loosely allied force - White Army, which included diverse interests favoring monarchism and capitalism. -
The creation of the U.S.S.R.
The Treaty on the Creation of the USSR officially created the Union of Societ Socialist Republics, known as the Soviet Union. It legalized a union of several Soviet republics and created a new centralized federal government. -
Vladimir Lenin’s Death
Vladimir Lenin was an architect of the Bolshevik Revolution and the first leade of the Soviet Union. He dies of brain hemorrhage at the age of 54. -
Bloody Sunday
Also known as the Bogside Massacre. Happened in the Bogside area of Derry Northern Ireland. British soldiers shot 26 unarmed civilians during a protest march against internment.
