The political and economic atmosphere at the time heavily influenced this period, with many writers finding inspiration from the French Revolution.
The early period of the Romantic era was a time of war, with the French Revolution (1789–1799) followed by the Napoleonic Wars until 1815. These wars, along with the political and social turmoil that went along with them, served as the background for Romanticism. -

The French Revolution (1789-1799) was a period of great social and political upheaval in France. It witnessed the collapse of the monarchy, the establishment of the First French Republic and culminated in the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and the beginning of the Napoleonic era. -

The Napoleonic Wars took place from about 1800 to 1815. They were a continuation of the French Revolutionary wars, which ran from 1792 to 1799. Together these conflicts represented 23 years of nearly uninterrupted war in Europe. -
STEAM INVENTION
In 1801, the first steam-powered road vehicle was invented by Richard Trevithick (1771-1833) following his development of the high-pressure steam engine (low-pressure engines simply did not have the necessary power to drive vehicles). His machine was very good but let down by the poor quality of the roads available.. -

Jacques-Louis David was a French painter of great influence on the neoclassical style. He sought inspiration in Greek sculptural and mythological models, drawing on their austerity and severity, something that matched the moral climate of the last years of the ancien regime. -

It depends on who you want to believe, but it is considered that the end of the romantic period coincides with the emergence of French realism, in the mid-19th century. -
