The Founding of the City

Overthrowing their great-uncle Amulius, Romulus and Remus established a city. Romulus eventually killed brother Remus and named their newly founded city Roma, after himself. -

From to 161 to 180 AD, Marcus Aurelius ruled as Rome's Emperor. This occured during the War with Parthia and War with Germanic Tribes. The severity of persecution of the Christians increased during his rule. -

The Division of Rome by Theodosius I
In the year 395, Emperor Theodosius I died. He gave power over the Eastern Empire to his 18 year old son Arcadius. In the Western Empire power was given to his ten year old son Honorius. Neither were good rulers. -

In the year 410, Western Rome was sacked by the Visagoths. This began the Germanic Invasions. -

In the year 32 BC, Mark Antony was married to Cleopatra. He later committed suicide in the year 30 BC. -
The Great Fire of Rome
In the evening of July 16, 64 AD, the city of Rome was burned down. Many believed it was by the current emperor, Nero.
