Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 happened after the French and Indian war. It forbides the settlers from settling anywhere past the Appalation Mountains. -
The Sugar Act of 1764
Parliment had passed this act as a modified version of the sugar and molasses act. Colonial merchants were reguired to pay tax under the sugar and molasses act of six pence per gallon when importing foriegn molasses. -
Currency Act of 1764
Parliment passed this act which allowed them to take control of the colonial currency system. It prohibited the use of any new bills and the reissue of existing currency. -
Stamp Act of 1765
Colonists were always forced to buy a royal stamp, and use it on all paper. -
Quartering Act 1765
This act puts soldiers in the British colonies to "protect" them, regardless of how the colonists feel, from March 24 1765 until March 24 1767. The colonists that have a soldier in their house must provide food and anything they require. -
Stamp Act Congress of 1765
The people who came together in order to get the British to repeal the Stamp Act. -
Declaratory Act of 1766
Its to make the colonies depend more on thier king and parliament, and make sure that they don't become independent. This act was created because the colonies had become a little apart from Britian and its king. -
Townshend Act of 1767
Taxes were put on many things like; glass, oil, paint, lead, paper, etc. in the hopes of raising 40,000 a year for administration over the colonies. In the colonies they decided not to buy from British merchants so that no profit or tax was collected.
