  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War began in 1754 and ended in 1763. Also known as the 7 years war in Europe. It started in America and soon spread throughout the world. Fought between the British and the French with their Indian allies over the fertile Ohio Valley River.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris signed on Feburary 10, 1763 offically ened the French and Indian war. Resulting in the loss of all French possessions in North America. And England gaining all French lands in Canada,the great lakes country, and the Ohio River Valley.
  • Proclamination Line of 1763

    Proclamination Line of 1763
    Issued by King George III to restrict the colonists from crossing the Appalachian Mountains into new England territory. Because of the recent end of the French and Indian War England was left in debt and looked to the colonists to pay. Leading to bitter feelings toward the British that would only intensify and a set of new imposed taxes and regulations on colonial trade.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Parliament passed a modified version of the Sugar and Molasses Act, which was about to expire. Although the sugar act reduced the tax on molasses, colonists ended up paying more taxes.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Passed by Parliament to pay for the war. The Stamp Act required colonists to pay a tax on almost all printed materials including newspapers,books,court documents,contracts,and land deeds.
  • Quatering Act

    Quatering Act
    Following the French and Indina War, Britain maintained an army in the colonies. This act instructed the colonies to provide housing and supplies for the British troops.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed and this led to a campaign by speech-writers to rouse the ire of the citizenry.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This act was created to save the East India Tea Company. Although it lowered the price of tea, but it gave a monoploy to the British in the American Colonies. It resulted in the Boston Tea Patry which occured on Ddecember 16, 1773 were the Sons of Liberty went on British tea ships and dumped the tea into the ocean.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    These laws meant to be force Massachusetts to pay for the tea that was eraicated during the Boston Tea Party. The laws also closed Boston Harbor and made it mandatory for the colonists to house British soliders in their homes.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Also known as "The shot heard round the world" was the first battle to spark the American Revolution. On the night of April 18, 1775, British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm, and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the Redcoat column. A confrontation on the Lexington town green started off the fighting, and soon the British were hastily retreating under intense fire.
