  • The Molasses Act

    The Molasses Act was an act made by Great Britain to tax imports of molasses from non-British colonies. This was the start of America being taxed which led to the rioting and wars years later.
  • The Iron Act

    The Iron Act was an act made by Great Britain that restricted the growth of the iron industry in America. Many Americans were upset because this didn't allow the American colonies to flourish like it could have.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was an act introduced by Great Britain that set a tax on sugar and other goods to raise revenue in Britain. Again, the colonists did not take this easy because they had no representation, and so, did not want to be taxed.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was an act that added tax to every stamp used in the colonies. The colonists rioted about this because they had no choice in the act because they weren't able to make laws.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre occurred in Boston where a crowd of colonists were getting rowdy towards British soldiers and were throwing things at them. This ended in the murder of multiple colonists and the news spread quickly. The colonists were angrier at the Britsh than they had ever been.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that occurred after the Boston Massacre. Colonists dressed up as Indian men and began throwing tea belonging to the British into the sea. Americans did this to protest a tax on tea. The Britsh tried to punish these people, but only made the colonists become stronger.
  • First Continental Congress

    The first Continental Congress was a meeting of a delegate from every colony. It was an organized resistance to defend the colonies' rights and make their grievances known to Britain. This was the first organized resistance from the colonies ever. It foreshadowed the colonies coming together to fight the British.
