  • Start of the French and Indian War

    Start of the French and Indian War
    The French and Indian Warwar began when both the French and the English claimed the land of the Ohio River Valley. In May, Washington's troops clashed with local French forces. The incident set off a string of small battles. After a year and a half of undelared war, the war was formally declared in May 1756. This helped lead to the revolution because it was between the French and English colonists for land.

    The Treaty of Paris 1763 ended the French and Indian War and France was to surrender all of her posessions in North America to the British and Spanish. This helped tje revolution because it required all French to leave so it was just the English some Spanish.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 stated the American Colonists were baned by law from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains, which was Indian territory. This helped the revolution because it angered the colonists and the tension was building between the colonists and the British government.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was the first internal tax the British passed on the colonists. This law required colonists to pay tax on every peice of printed paper they used. The funds raised by the tax were intended to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier. They planned to place 10,000 troops near the Appalachian Mountains. This helpled the revolution because the colonists started to boycott British goods.

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts applied taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea with the design of raising 40,000 euros for the administration of the colonies. This angered the colonists because they were forced to house and supply British soldiers who were invading their privacy and homes and that was a big part of the revolution.

    The Boston Massacre was a key part of the revolution. The Boston Massacre was the killing of five people, including Crispus Attucks, by British soldiers who had fired into a rioting croud.

    The Tea Act
    The Tea Act of 1773 was intended to prop up the East India Company which was floundering financially and burdened with eighteen million pounds of unsold tea. This imposed no new taxes and was not supposed to raise revenue in the American colonies. This helped lead to the revolution because it led to the Boston Tea Party.

    The Boston Tea Party was the colonists' reaction to the Tea Act of 1773. It happened when the colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians boarded the vessels of the East India Company docked in the Boston Harbor and dumped all of the tea in the three ships into the ocean. They dumped 342 chests of tea. This started the war of independence.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts , aslo known as the Coercive Acts, included the Boston Port Act, the Quartering Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Massachusetts Government Act. This angered the colonists and the Boston Committee of Correspondence circulated letter urging colonies to stop trading with England.

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the opening of the revolutionary war.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written by five men.The Continental Congress reconvened on July 1st, and 12 of the 13 colonies adopted Lee's resolution for independence the next day. This process of consideration continued on through July 3rd and early morning 4th, and Congress deleted some of its text. The delegates made no changes to the key preamble. Congress adopted the Delcaration of Independence later on the 4th.
