  • Start of French and Indian War

    Start of French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was started as France and Britain began to fight over land in North America. During this war, many Native American tribes sided with the French, some sided with Britain, and some were Neutral. This turned into a 7-year dispute.
  • End of French and Indian War

    End of French and Indian War
    Although the French were winning at first, after William Pitt was appointed in charge of Britain's military, Britain started to win. In 1763, the French surrendered and signed the treaty of Paris. Because of this, there was almost no more French territory in North America anymore.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British were in great debt after using so many resources in the war. To solve this, they passed the Stamp Act, which fined all paper, newspapers, magazines, etc. in the Colonies. This angered the Colonists, so they protested by burning stamped paper, and overall harming the British merchant industry. As a result, the Stamp Act was repealed in 1766.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre started as an argument with a British private and a few civilians. The civilians soon turned aggressive and became a crowd, while many British Soldiers arrived. After one shot from Private Montgomery, other soldiers also started shooting, resulting in 5 civilians dead. This event became a wake-up call for the colonists and sparked more riots that eventually became the Revolution.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by Colonists and led by the patriarchs called the "Sons of Liberty". This was a response to the Townshend acts, specifically The Tea Act, which heavily taxed tea. 116 people then proceeded to dress up as Indian Mohawks and sneak onto importing ships with tea, and dump all of the tea into the ocean. This resulted in the continuing of the revolt against the British and sparked a new light of revolution into civilians' eyes.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    Because of the Boston tea party, The parliament made new laws to punish the Massachusetts. Other colonies sent Boston necessities.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Other colonies except Georgia decided to stop all trade with Britain until they get rid of the laws. Instead of getting rid of the laws, Britain decides to add more laws and send some more British soldiers to the colonies.
  • Second Continental Congress & Olive Branch Petition

    Second Continental Congress & Olive Branch Petition
    In the second continental congress decided to make George Washington the commanding general of the Continental Army. The Olive Branch Petition was for the king to restore peace between the colonists and Britain Troops. The king didn’t accept the petition.
  • The Declaration of Independance

    The Declaration of Independance
    The Declaration of Independence was for making a better government, and was to cancel the laws that Britain made before. 56 people had signed this. This started the Journey to independence from Britain.
