Proclamation act of 1763
The proclamation act of 1763 was a royal decre that did not allow colonists to establish settlements west of an imaginary line that ran through the crest appalachian mountains. The proclomation stated that the land belonged to the indians and they were residing there. -

Quartering act of 1765
The act required that each colonial assembly had to provide for the basic needs of soldiers that were serving within there borders. items included bedding, cooking utensils, firewood, food, drinks, and candles. -

Declaratory Act 1766
The declaratory act affirmed England's right to bring together the whenever neccesary. It could be the right to tax, enforcement of all britsh laws, all were subject always to British rule. This was put in place by brittian becuase of fear that the colonies had to much power and they wanted to re-enforce that they had the right to rule over the colnies. -
Townshend acts of 1767
The acts were named after Charles Townshend. The purpose of the many acts passed were to raise revenue in the colonies and pay governers and judges. -
Boston Massacre
5 colonits were shot and killed in a public square by redcoats in 1770. This sparked outrage and angered colonists and making them want to break away from brittian even more. -
Tea Act of 1773
The tea act was not intended to raise revenue in the American colonies, and did not make new taxes. It was put in place to help the East India Company which was doing poorly and had a lot of unsold tea. This tea was to be shipped directly to the colonies, and sold at a bargain price. -
Boston tea party
The boston tea party was one of the main turing points to start the american revolution. Just before mindnight in december of 1773 a group of angry colonists dumped all of the tea off of a british ship. This sparked the redcoats to close docks and take many colonists out of jobs, which only angered them more. -
Coercive Acts 1774
Also know as the Intolerable acts, the concieve acts were a large group of acts passed by the parliment and introduced by Lord North. They were a huge contributing factor to the revolutionary war. -
Quebec Act 1774
A well-intentioned measure to give more rights to the french of Canada. They had come under british rule because of the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The biritsh had had previous faliures in incorperating quebec into british society -
1st Continental Congress
The first continental met in philadelphia on September 5, 1774. Twelve of the 13 colonies sent delegates. The idea was to right the wrongs that had been put on the colonies and possibly have a hearing in london. -
Battles of Lexington/Concord
These battles were the first in the war of independince, At lexington the malita ded awful and was forced to retreat. As the redcoats moved forward more minutemen came out at concord, the britsh thiuhgt they had found the sulplies of the malitia but then they were foced out by the malitia who outnubered them. -
2nd Continental Congress
Held in boston and led by John Hancock, the second continental congress adressed the main issuses in the colonies such as military matters, financing the war and independince. They were not a government but they were the people that acted like one in the colonies. -
Olive branch petition
The olve branch petition was written at the second continental congress. This petition was directed to George III personally. It issued a sharp protest against the british policies and asked the king to stop the war and repeal the Coercive Acts -

The decleration of independence was a document written at the second continental congress that stated that the colonies were fighting as independednt states from brittian. It was signed by thr delegets at the congress.
