    The compromise of 1850 is significant because it basically only pushed back the civil war for four years. California became a free state, and Utah and Mexico had no slave restrictions, obviously people were very unhappy.

    The use of the undreground railroad is significant because it shows how slaves wanted to escape and where willing to fight for freedom. Although the number of successful slaves to escape was not significnt, the meaning of the railroad is.

    The famous book by Harriet Beecher Stowe is greatly important because it gave the Northern States an honest outlook on what slavery actually was. The northerners now became aware of the racial violence and wanted to help the slaves with force.

    KANSAS NEBRASKA ACT
    The Kansas Nebraska Act was important because it created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska, but also repealed the Missouri Compromise. Northerners especially were furious with the repeal and the idea of a soverignity. This only built tension between the north and south.

    The election of 1860 is important because the election divided the country into 4 groups, and after Lincoln won the election with just under 40% the Southern States rebelled and secession began to occur. This clearly lead to the civil war.

    The secession of South Carolina is vital to the road of the Civil War because after South Carolina seceeded the nation, seven other states followed which then resulted war.
