    Arpanet was the first net work to run on packet switching technology. This was the first form of internet.

    Email was created, along with using the @ sign in order to keep the user name from the computer name.

  • Trans-Atlantic Connection

    Arpanet made the first connection to go across the Atlantic Ocean.

  • PC Modem

    The PC Modem was developed and began to be sold.

  • Spam

    Unsolicited commercial messages began to be sent.

  • The First Emoticon

    The :-) was invented with the purpose of using it after telling a joke.

  • Domain Name Systems

    Addresses on the internet became more human-friendly compared to the IP addresses that were used before.

  • The Morris Worm

    The first major attack on the internet. It caused many interruptions across the internet.

  • World Wide Web

    The first web page was officially created.

  • Commercialization

    It became safe to make credit card payments online.

  • Google

    Google went live and made it easy to find information online.

  • MySpace

    MySpace became a popular social media site.

  • Facebook

    Facebook opened up, mainly for college students.

  • YouTube

    YouTube was created to watch and share videos

  • Twitter

    Twitter became a reality

  • Hulu

    Hulu became first streaming service for movies.

  • iPhone

    It made it easier to surf the web and allowed for doing it in a Mobil format.
