The Revenue Act
In 1767, this was also known as the Townshend Act. This was an attempt the Parliament of Great Britain made to let the Colonies know they were in charge. They did this by putting taxes on tea, paper, lead, and paints. -
The colonist reaction
The Colonist responded with boycotting the British, such as refusing to house British troops, then not accepting any of the British's goods or trades.
Some resorted to mobs and more violent protests. -
The British Government Reaction
The British Government responded to the Colonist protesting was they didn't tax a lot on all the items except for tea. Yet this didn't help really, thus leading to the British having to use some force. Which led to the Boston Massacre.
