The Poll Tax

Law was passed to introduce the new tax in scotland on 1 April 1989.

New Prime Minister ,John Major, announced in April that it would be replaced by a new council tax, however this would not start until Aoril 1993, and The Poll tax would carry on til then.

Poll tax ended. it was estimated £2.5 billion of the tax was still unpaid.
