Transportation to and from London became easier causing a major inflow of people and outflow of goods. The construction of the railroad was a major factor in the increase of the population, as people, and goods, could travel long distances in a short amount of time. Source

    Total Population: 6,506,954 After only 100 years, the population rapidly jumped to 6 million! London became a popular city as the capital of one of the world's largest empires - England. It was filled with industrialization and trade. Many goods, and people, flowed in and out of it's ports. Although the population continued growing during the 1900's, it slowed down because of troubles such as WWI and WWII. Source

But, even though the population dropped, ethnic divercity increased! People from all over the world started coming to London, including African Americans, Asians, and many other races.
