Liliuokalani become Queen
After the death of her brother King Kalakaua, Queen Liliuokalani took action and became Queen of Hawaii. Liliuokalani then dedicated her reign to restoring Hawaiian rights to try and return them to the people of Hawaii. -
The Coup
The committee of safety organized by Sanford B. Dole set up a coup to take over the Hawaiian Monarchy and turn it into a democracy so with the backing of the U.S. military they stormed the palace and arrested the queen and put her under house arrest. -
